Another image of a peak sanctuary which makes evident the nature-centric focus of the architecture of these buildings. Here, however, I have been inspired by the fluid yet tense postures of the figures visible on the famous Ring of Minos. In particular, the young man at right displays an arms-raised, tensed-back posture which might be construed as a kind of stress position, an unusual pose for a gesture of veneration. However, researchers such as Erin McGowan have conducted experiments with modern people in similar stress postures to those seen in minoan art and has elicited visionary experiences from the participants. Thus, we may here be seeing the gestures that Minoan people used to bring about their own personal epiphany experiences.
