I will admit a certain Alex Grey influence here, but this illustration, again for my 2017 book They Shimmer Within, evoked an embodied sensation I would often feel when entering psychedelic or altered states: that of electric pulses emerging from my head and turning into little presences. This was particularly noticeable during my 2004-08 work with salvia divinorum, but I have felt it in other contexts too, including spontaneously, in non-psychedelic situations.
