ion project
The Ion Project is a long term musical project which was originally planned to start around October 2006 but has been put on long term hold. When it eventually does materialise, it will take the form of a series of free releases accessed via the cadoabando.net website. Each release will be around four or five tracks long, and you fine folks will be able to download the mp3 tracks at a low bandwidth along with the cover design, or cheaply buy the CD media version from the shop for a price that will pretty much only cover costs and postage. Ion itself stands for Image Of Nothing - this indicates that the cover designs for each release will feature a photo or image that doesn't really mean anything. Currently a minimum of four releases are planned, and each release will only be available sequentially, i.e. once 'ion three' is ready for download, 'ion two' will no longer be available. The title of the first release is expected to be ion one : biker boy (as the above image might suggest, although this image has now been appropriated for the better always project ). Subsequent releases will feature new tracks, but may also feature variations or remixes of tracks on previous releases, a la tickle traps. It's a fairly open project, and since the music is basically going to be free, I can let it go wherever it likes. Updates on this project will eventually be available via this page, as well as the news page, but it's expected to be on hold for a while yet... |

Points of Debate There are a number of points relating to this project that I'm currently debating: How will the download medium affect the music development and the 'message'? Should releases previous to the currently available one still be available on CD from the shop? Whether to collate the best tracks from the various releases onto a single final CD? Or to bring together all the tracks from every release onto a double or triple CD? Answers to these questions and more are likely to present themselves as the project evolves, which it won't do for a while. Watch this space. |
