DICTIONARIES

There are two dictionaries to choose from, Tahitian-English and English-Tahitian. Actually, neither of them are strictly dictionaries, as they are nowhere near exhaustive, and probably don't even cover a large number of words used in every day common speech in Tahitian. However, in the absence of any textbooks at my disposal, this is the best I have been able to do, and I would appreciate anyone emailing me to suggest additions or changes to either list.

At this point, let me remind again you that I am not a native speaker of Tahitian and, as such, errors will have inevitably crept into these wordlists. I hope that anyone spotting any mistakes will be kind enough to correct me.

These wordlists include all of the words and grammatical particles covered in the preceding lessons, as well as the majority of the words I have been able to isolate the meanings of in the songs and texts that I have been able to translate or understand. Those songs can be found in the "Songs" section. There are also other words not found in the above two categories which are there for information, and practice. A number of the lessons encourage you to write your own descriptions of things, and these extra words should help you.

The wordlists are free for your use to learn Tahitian, but I would ask, if you print them off and use in large numbers, that you do not falsify authorship. In the same way, credits for any corrections that are sent to me about these dictionaries will be put below.
