The puma is an animal which features prominently in Inca and Andean beliefs and was considered a dark and dangerous creature. It featured as a dark cloud constellation somewhere in the Milky Way around Cygnus. I have depicted it here as bearing wings and leaping northwards towards an area of the Sky which the Incas themselves would not have been able to see. It is therefore leaping into the unknown.
