"SKY (2004 BLUE)"
2004 : 65cm x 65cm : Digital print on cotton satin
The completed piece, in which each constellation is represented cheek by jowl next to its neighbours. There are numerous serpents visible in the southern sky, recalling many myths depicting the fundament of the World Below as resting on the body of a snake or dragon which regularly moves causing earthquakes. This is emphasised by the crocodile at the very base. Just under the goddess, the Sun is beginning to rise as the moon sets under Taurus. Thus we see the sky at dawn. |
