The toad was located directly over the Southern Celestial Pole and was also implicated in Inca mythology with the large scale movement of the sky that was causing the Ancestors to lose their bridge to earth. I have depicted it here as bearing eggs under its abdomen, reminding us that in the death of the Ancestors that the Incas believed was happening, there was also the possibility of new life, and this possibility resulted in the Inca Empire being formed.
