Like Xiber, this piece is rooted in the landscape surrounding my current home town. Unlike the other piece, however, this work is a thematic landscape of the Aire Valley drawn in silver loops, with myself as the artist visible in the centre as a part of the landscape. Here I wanted to express the - admittedly rather conceptual - idea that the artist is not external to the landscape in which s/he works, but integral to it, even subsumed within it. Thus I have depicted myself only partly, and the landscape dominates the scene. When I am in one of my more conecptual moods (which is rarely), I might even claim this is a self-portrait rather than a landscape!
