from out of my head,
my propeller-bladed head,
came the wheel of time.
it drew me in four times,
it dragged me round three times.
1974
my young parents smiling;
sighted and into the whirl again.
1994
the same smiles, but age begins;
sighted and into the whirl again.
2014
different time-changed faces;
sighted and into the whirl again.
2034
ancient people in future times
sighted and still smiling.
the wheel of time disappeared
as quickly as it came,
slipping back into my head.
it sits there now,
it sits there even now,
swirling away,
grinding out time...
'new orleans' is the reply,
'we're all from new orleans'...
