"SERPENT THREE"
2004 : 29cm x 69cm : Acrylics on canvas

This three-part piece was derived from rock art of the Ohio Valley. Here we see a curled serpent about to pounce on an egg which has been split in two, suggesting a life in death theme common to some ancient traditions. The serpentine form appealed to me here and it is interesting how the coiled nature of the piece unifies the three separate parts even when they are not in direct contact (as is currently, where the piece hangs along my staircase equally spaced as one ascends).
