THE PENNY PROJECT

Intro Diary #1 Diary #2 Diary #3 Diary #4 Theories Conclusions?

"...Every time it rains,
it rains pennies from heaven.
Don't you know each cloud
Contains pennies from heaven..."

Day 3210th March 2005 So, then. I am a Penny Magnet. This means I will almost magically attract pennies, and I can reasonably expect a large amount of pennies to enter my life over the next week.

The day started off well. I found a Kenyan one shilling piece which bears a close resemblance to a 2p coin - year 1997, not shiny, good condition.

Then late in the day, I found four pennies all lying in the same area by one of the pool tables in the cafe area at work. First penny: year 1991, not shiny, average condition. Second penny: year 1999, slightly shiny, good condition. Third penny: year 2002, shiny, good condition. Fourth penny: year 1996, not shiny, average condition.

We shall see how this turns out. I fthe first day of being a Penny Magnet is anything to go by, I'm expecting quite a hoard!

6th June 2005 - Final Entry

Well, it's been a very long time since I updated this diary. Just about a few days after the above entry, I decided to give up the project for a while - it seemed now I was a 'Penny Magnet' I was finding more pennies than I could keep in my pocket and log on this diary; additionally I was finding other things to do with my time (some might say it was about time!) and daily updates to the diary and the site were no longer possible.

Anyway, I've cleared my head out of pretty much all belief systems relating to pennies, the finding of or otherwise, but a steady trickle of pennies still flows my way. I've decided to see each one as a good luck token, ad of course, what the thinker thinks, the prover will prove and so they will actually become good luck tokens. Good for me!

August 2005 Update

The Penny Project kind of slowly petered out after a few intense weeks of genuine introspection about this strange subject. I'm still finding pennies, and I'm still (religiously some might say) picking them up and pocketing them. Right now there are four pennies in my pocket jingling about and giving me luck.

That's right, luck. Nothing much has changed since June - As can be seen from the previous entry I had decided then that since I was pretty much picking and choosing belief systems that I'd keep the one about the Lucky People, and so pennies for me remain a symbol of good luck. That's my natural optimism for you - I could just as easily have thought of them as a curse or simply a chance encounter - but since beliefs colour (and create) worlds, I decided to give myself a daily (or twice or thrice daily) dose of good luck in the action of finding a penny.

So here's to the Lucky People and the Pennies!
