"HER SHIP OF EYES"
2004 : 84.7cm x 59cm : Inks & markers on card

Based on a petroglyph dating to the early Bronze Age and found near Lokerberget, Foss, Sweden. The motif of the Ship of Renewal is an ancient one through much of Western Eurasia. The Goddess, here shown in her death-aspect as a watcher Owl with wide eyes, returns to the Earth in spiring with a ship full of treasure: the magic of the fertility of the land. We see her with wings outstretched, leading the ship to shore in celebration. She sits atop a breasted figure who bears a phallus sprouting from a vulva. The ship itself bears sprouting plants and trees, and two heavy fruits towards the centre. The wood of the ship itself is inlaid with seeds representing the potential of the future harvest.
