"THE FISHER COMES TO HARVEST THE LAMB"
2007 : 42cm x 59cm : Inks & markers on card
Here I have taken as a theme the story from Jason and the Argonauts of the stealing of the Golden Fleece. Again I think this myth speaks of the end of a World Age: the removal of Aries (the Golden Fleece) from the spring equinox and its replacement by the Pisces (the Fisher, represented by Jason in his ship). Historians believe that it was the Greeks who discovered precession, and as such this Classical story may encode this observation. Here we see a semi-naked Jason at left come before the dragon and the fleece. In the Background the stars are falling and the Milky Way sinks down behind the dead tree from which the fleece hangs. |
