"FALL OF THE BULL IN COLOUR"
2007 : 59cm x 42cm : Inks & markers on card

This piece is a colourful variation on a more monochrome piece found here. Depicted is the constellation of Taurus at the moment when the Earth's precession meant that it no longer held the position of the vernal equinox, and hence the sense of the bull 'falling' away from one of the most important locations in the ancient sky. There are some who say that the long term movements of precession could not have been detected by ancient people, and although there are many ways to interpret myths, I do believe that a large body of world mythology does speak of this type of stellar movement - it would only take one tribal elder with an accurate eye and good memory to begin to notice the changes.
