"IZRENA MYRTOU"
2005: 59.4cm x 42cm : Inks, acrylics & markers on card

This piece represents a magic0-religious take on a beautiful landscape. In the southeast of Crete is a coastal village called Myrtos, which is surrounded by one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. We see a river running through it, and flanked by majestic hills which are represented by the various forms of the Old European Goddess, who on account of the wealth of Minoan archaeological sites is still very present and immanent in the Cretan landscape. I spent days and hours walking through or simply sitting and watching this landscape, and this image remembers that two-week long geomantic epiphany.

A photo of the same landscape, from the point of view of the orange oval
(representing a Minoan village) at the bottom right of the piece
