This was a series designed to help integrate some of the more bizarre dream and vision experiences I was having after a lengthy period of work with salvia divinorum in early 2008. They were of limited success, but the groundwork laid here helped to inspire my shift into visionary painting (from archetypal-mythical illustration) and some of the motifs here found their way into later paintings. They began life as marker sketches which were scanned in and digitally manipulated until a sense of transcendence began to enter the work. However some of them are simply psychedelic images rather than fully transcendent or visionary. Treading the boundary between hand-drawn and digital to explore deep visionary and fragmented consciousness states ranging from the shamanic to the disqueting, we see self-aware and indepedent visionary beings emerging and dissolving inner experience into outer manifestation...
