This work springs from a period of insomnia which by day left me exhausted but by night, drifting in and out of consciousness, bright-eyed visions of a strange innerglowing forested landscape into my awareness. Images of water and fields of mushrooms transforming into eggs and new life gave way to trees heavy with vines and shivering with watchful spirit beings. At length I found myself flying over this inner landscape as a tribe of people emerged from the jungle into the light of an Indian arch. On the final night that this occurred I decided to take careful note of the visions before they faded out of view, and instead of lying awake and restless for the rest of the night, I got up and began sketching until morning, recording as much detail as I could remember. The following night I slept soundly.
